Overwatch: Best Heroes Tier List

Our Overwatch hero tier list for ranks every Tank, DPS, and Support in the current meta. Updated picks, win rates, and patch analysis.

Last updated:

Overwatch has rebranded a couple of times, but what never changes is that the best heroes in the game win the games. Reign of Talon brought five new ones, including sub-passives and a balance patch affecting over a dozen characters. This Overwatch 2 tier list provides a complete hero list for this Overwatch 2 season, so you can lock in the right hero for your games.

How Heroes are Ranked

The ranking list considers four factors: competitive win rates from Diamond and above, pick rate trends from Blizzard's official hero stats page, tournament presence, and viability in Overwatch ranked play (without a coordinated team). This means both team play and solo queue matter.

Meta Overview

The current Overwatch 2 meta rewards heroes with strong mobility, self-sustain, and fight-altering ultimates. Recent balance updates have sharpened the distinction between dominant and situational picks, with S-tier heroes establishing a clear edge across all three roles and map types.

S Tier

Kiriko remains the premier support pick, combining teleport mobility with the game-saving Protection Suzu and lethal Kunai headshot potential that keeps opponents perpetually off-balance. Her ability to cleanse critical debuffs and reposition instantly makes her a near-mandatory inclusion in virtually every team composition at every level of play.

Mauga dominates the tank role through relentless dual-minigun pressure and powerful self-sustain, making him an ever-present threat in prolonged team fights that opponents cannot safely ignore. Junker Queen complements that aggression with her Commanding Shout and Jagged Blade wound mechanics, generating sustained damage and healing denial that punishes passive play. Hazard brings disruptive geometry-warping tools that create unpredictable angles and force opponents to constantly reassess positioning, cementing his place among the elite tanks.

In the damage category, Sojourn excels through her Railgun charge mechanic and Disruptor Shot, consistently producing high-value eliminations that punish grouped opponents and rapidly shift momentum. Together, these five heroes demonstrate the highest ceiling across diverse maps and compositions, with their mobility tools, sustain, and utility generating decisive advantages that heroes in lower tiers simply cannot replicate.

A Tier

A tier is densely populated with strong, reliable picks across all roles. Reinhardt and Sigma provide dependable frontline structure, while D.Va and Ramattra offer flexible tank options that adapt well to shifting team needs. On damage, Tracer, Genji, Sojourn's closest rivals Ashe and Widowmaker, Hanzo, and Pharah's counterpart all reward mechanical investment with consistent impact. Baptiste and Lucio round out the supports, delivering powerful utility through Immortality Field and speed-boosting Amp It Up respectively, making this tier a deep pool of viable, high-performing heroes.

B Tier

B tier contains capable heroes that perform well in the right hands or specific compositions but lack the universal dominance of higher tiers. Zarya, Winston, Orisa, Wrecking Ball, and Doomfist cover the tank and brawl roles, while Soldier: 76, Pharah, Echo, Mei, Junkrat, and Bastion offer situational damage value. Lifeweaver and Mercy round out the supports, providing utility that shines in coordinated play but struggles to match the raw impact of S and A tier picks.

C Tier

C tier heroes face meaningful challenges in the current meta that limit their consistent effectiveness. Moira struggles to produce the decisive impact of higher-tier supports despite her self-sustain, while Sombra's hack-dependent kit becomes increasingly predictable as opponents adapt. Roadhog's rework has yet to fully restore his former dominance, leaving him as a niche pick rather than a reliable main tank. Reaper's short range and telegraphed engage patterns make him easy to counter with proper spacing, and Symmetra's Teleporter utility, while occasionally game-changing, rarely justifies her selection over more versatile damage dealers in most competitive environments.

Looking Ahead

Season 2 is right around the corner with new heroes and content expected, but the best strategy remains the same: learn two to three of the best Overwatch 2 characters per role and keep track of patch changes to stay ahead. But keep in mind that this current Overwatch tier list is more of a guide, and the most important thing is to play a hero well.
