Since the first crossover went live, Dragon Ball outfits in Fortnite have dominated the game. The Fortnite Dragon Ball event was released in August 2022 and has become Epic's most popular anime pipeline. Goku and Vegeta had their own amazing built-in emotes and jaw-dropping transformation styles (Super Saiyan, Super Saiyan Blue, and Ultra Instinct for Goku, and Super Vegeta and two Super Saiyan Blue for Vegeta). Beerus was equipped with his Seer Fish back bling and a glowing purple ki on his emotes, while Bulma came fitted with a sleek second lab coat style.

The skins were not even the main thing in this event. In Power Unleashed, the map became an arena for a Dragon Ball playground, with the Kame House coming into existence, Bulma selling Mythics at the beach, and the Kamehameha Mythic dealing 100 damage on impact and 40 damage per second. These were all totally broken in Battle Royale. And imagine having a Nimbus Cloud glider every 20 seconds. That immediately became the best mobility item that season.

Gohan, Piccolo, and Goku Black Keep the Set Alive

The crossover turned into a lasting phenomenon that on January 31, 2023, Son Gohan and Piccolo were introduced in-game. Their introduction gave fans fresh ways to unlock more characters, with each outfit priced at 1,800 V-Bucks separately or 2,200 V-Bucks when bundled.

This crossover successfully got players hooked, and a few months later, Epic capitalized on the crossover's popularity by unveiling Goku Black, the villain version of the franchise's most iconic character. The character costs 1,500 V-Bucks and comes with a charging emote, a Super Saiyan Rosé transformation, and his Ki-Scythe and Ki-Sword pickaxes.

Frieza and Cell Bring the Villains

Christmas 2023 finally gave the fans the villain they'd been asking for. Frieza arrived first at 1,500 V-Bucks, complete with his iconic hover Pod as back bling and looks that players can cycle through: his First Form, Fourth Form, and Golden Frieza.

Cell was also dropped at 1,500 V-Bucks, carrying the instantly recognizable Cell's Shell. Before, the crossover had been stacked with heroes, but there was no one for them to square off against.

This wave brought some balance into that aspect of the crossover, and it's absolutely necessary for those who care more about DBZ lore than just raw power scaling. After almost a year and a half, fans finally got the bad guys they'd been waiting for, which made the collab feel more genuine.

The New Dragon Ball Skins: Trunks and the Androids

The v30.40 update on August 10, 2024, introduced three heavy hitters straight from Dragon Ball: Future Trunks, Android 17, and Android 18. The Android outfits cost 1,500 V-Bucks each, while buying both as a bundle will only cost 2,300, which is actually a solid deal. They all come with back blings that have the Red Ribbon Army logo.

The other outfit worth mentioning is the Trunks skin, who was the star of the show. It costs 2,000 V-Bucks, but he packs way more value. His outfit included a Super Saiyan variant you can transform into, a charging emote, and his iconic sword.

To be honest, if you're a beginner and wanna build the set from scratch, the smartest move will be to purchase the Goku skin first. He's the main character, and even years later, he remains the one outfit that can attract players' attention. Pair him with Vegeta, and you've got the perfect set that includes transformations desired by most players. From there, you can acquire Frieza, who stands as the strongest villain skin.

The really tricky part is timing since these outfits only appear when Epic puts the Dragon Ball set back into the Fortnite Item Shop, and we'll never know when it'll last.
